Summing Up the Summer at AGBU AVC 10/01/2023

This summer, like in previous years, the AGBU Armenian Virtual College (AVC) contributed to several summer programs, particularly - AGBU programs (AGBU “Global Leadership” and “Musical Armenia” Programs); and the "Step Forward Home" (Qayl Depi Tun) program organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs․ All the programs are aimed at connecting the youth from Armenia and the Diaspora through education, networking and socializing.

As an accredited online institution specializing in Armenian studies and having more than a decade-long experience in online teaching, AGBU AVC contributed to the AGBU Global Leadership Program (GLP) throughout the years by organizing multiple virtual events for the participants to further enhance their experience of the rich Armenian culture.

AGBU GLP kicked off on June 26 in Yerevan and welcomed 12 participants from Canada, Egypt, France, Holland, Lebanon, Syria, and the US. Among the many different internships and activities with professional supervisors and mentors, the program participants also took AGBU AVC Western Armenian language classes under the guidance of the AGBU AVC Western Armenian Affairs Coordinator Zepur Kheblikian and AGBU AVC Senior Online Instructor Ani Dekirmenchyan.

The AVC team held an introductory session for participants of the AGBU Musical Armenia program, presenting its e-learning offerings that can help them deepen their understanding of Armenian music and culture.

Another summer program that AGBU AVC contributed to this year was Step Toward Home. This program is organized by the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs and aims to bring teenagers from different corners of the world to Armenia for a hands-on experience of Armenian culture and heritage.

In June-July, 2023, more than 600 young participants of the Step Toward Home Program visited the country. AGBU AVC Partnership and Communications Specialist Kima Serobyan welcomed everyone at the AGBU Armenia office and made a presentation about various educational programs offered by AGBU AVC, including the online courses, special programs, online communities and other learning opportunities.

Following the busy season and the success of the Summer Term, AGBU AVC is heading toward more exciting programs and the opening of the Fall Term.

In addition to the annual summer programs, the AVC team participated in several public events, including the “Learn and Work Expo-2023” organized by Yerevan State University and The National Youth Forum organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. At these events, attendees had the chance to explore a variety of online learning opportunities offered by AVC.
