Purity of the Armenian Language and Online Education 11/16/2017

A seminar under the title “The Purity of the Armenian Language and Online Education” was held in Los Angeles on November 16, 2017. The event was organized by "Մեսրոպեան Ուխտ" (“Mesropean Oukht”), an organization dedicated to the preservation of the Armenian language.

At the seminar, Dr. Hagop Ayntablian and Prof. Artem Sarkisyan presented their new book, a dictionary of the Armenian equivalents of foreign terms, and spoke about the importance of keeping the Armenian language alive. Dr. Ayntablian emphasized the essential role of the AGBU Armenian Virtual College in preserving the language and described AVC as a good opportunity for the new generation to learn Armenian.

Sevan Derbedrossian, a hybrid program teacher from AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School, was invited to speak about the AVC mission and online education opportunities. The school has been participating in the AVC hybrid education program since 2011, and presently 33 students study Armenian benefiting from the advantages of both in-class and online learning.

The attendees of the meeting highly commended AVC’s programs and activities. There was a suggestion to add an Armenian course in Persian for the Armenians living in Iran.
