Interactive Live Event “Chess with a Champion” a Success 12/01/2018

On December 1st, 2018, AVC held a live Facebook event called “Chess with a Champion” with a special guest, 2018 Armenia’s chess champion Hayk Martirosyan. The 18-year old grandmaster, together with AVC chess instructor Mikayel Andriasyan, discussed the secrets of mastering the game and answered questions from the live audience. Mikayel Andriasyan presented the AVC online chess course created in collaboration with the Chess Academy of Armenia. The course was designed to supplement the school curriculum and as a free online tool for anyone who wants to learn the basics of the game.

“I think this is a very useful program for chess lovers where they can learn, solve quizzes and play online. It offers many good features for learning chess,” said Hayk Martirosyan. The live discussion was followed by a simultaneous online chess session where fifteen participants, aged 7-55, tried their skills in a game against the champion. The best player, twelve-year-old Seda Badalyan from Yerevan, received a t-shirt with the AVC chess program logo, signed by Hayk Martirosyan.

This was the first experience of organizing an interactive Facebook live broadcast, and AVC received many positive responses from the viewers.

“Thank you, Hayk Martirosyan, AGBU AVC and Mikayel Andriasyan, for creating such a wonderful opportunity,” wrote A. Petrosyan.

Many participants suggested organizing more live events. “It was very interesting,” commented M. Kazaryan.

AVC is planning to hold more global online events in order to share the advantages of its e-learning resources with a wider audience and create online networking opportunities for Armenians worldwide.
